Young Horse Starting

Young horses deserve a calm, structured introduction to training — one that builds confidence and sets them up for a lifetime of success. Our program emphasizes:

•    Groundwork fundamentals

•    Desensitization and handling

•    Introduction to tack and mounting

•    First rides focused on relaxation and understanding

•    Early steering, stopping, and forward rhythm

•    Exposure to new environments, obstacles, and basic poles

Your structured levels program reflects this progression beautifully, beginning with foundational skills such as catching, grooming, lunging, and basic mounted balance, then advancing toward early dressage concepts, pole work, and confidence building exercises. This creates a clear, safe, and consistent roadmap for young horses as they begin their careers.

Horse Development & Advancement

For horses with some experience who are ready to progress, we offer a development program that builds strength, rideability, and understanding. Training focuses on:

•    Improving rhythm, relaxation, and connection

•    Strengthening topline and hind end engagement

•    Introducing lateral work and transitions within gaits

•    Developing balance at the canter

•    Building confidence over poles and small fences

•    Preparing for dressage tests, hunter rounds, or jumper courses

Your training levels outline this beautifully — from mastering turns on the forehand and haunches, to leg yields, serpentines, and canter work, to early jumping and cross country schooling. Horses advance through each stage with clarity and purpose, ensuring they develop correct basics that support long term soundness and performance.

Your upper level training curriculum mirrors these expectations, with skills such as First through Third Level dressage tests, counter canter, shoulder in, collection, 2’6”–3’0” courses, and even advanced concepts like bridleless riding and green horse catch rides.
